We stopped at a sandbar to just relax and enjoy the water a bit. The boys used their shovels to dig in the sand as well as try to catch some of the little minos. Above you see Austin with his little shovel and Derek by the boat. As the day went on, Austin took a nap while Derek drove the boat for a bit. Yes we let him drive at only 4 years old. He did good and since it was in the bay not a lot of people were in the way. Most were sitting out at Crab Island waiting for the fireworks. After a few hours on the water, we came back to the house and cooked up some ribs and corn on the cob, ate out on the deck with a beautiful view of the lake.
This is of Derek Driving. He did great!
After our meal we waited for the sun to go down and did a few of our own fireworks. Derek said he wasn't afraid this year, but as we heard our neighbors and of course the some of the ones we had that made noise, he took off to the protection of the house. He did do an excellent job of being a junior firefighter and making sure each firework was hosed off after they were lit so that none would start a fire later. So all in all it was a great day. Hope next year is just as wonderful.
