Something Old, Something New...

...something borrowed, something blue. :-) This past weekend, we drove (yes you read that right, DROVE) to Omaha, Nebraska to watch Trevor's cousin Kayley get married. We left Thurs evening and returned Sunday. Yes we know we are crazy and yes we paid heavily for it with our sleep. But we made it worth it.
First we drove 16.5 hours to Kansas City. We arrived there about noonish and stayed all day to enjoy a great baseball game of the Kansas City Royals versus the Colorado Rockies. This was Austin's first baseball game and like Derek's third or so. We also got to visit with Trevor's Godmother (his Aunt Joni) and an old friend of mine from 7th grade. Can you believe that? I met up with someone that I had not seen since 7th grade. Crazy I know, but it was awesome. We only got to visit for about an hour at most, but it was worth it. We hung out with Trevor's Aunt Joni for most of the day. First eating at T-Rex which the boys thought was great. Then we just walked about an outdoor mall. Before we knew it, it was time for the game.
The baseball game was great. Of course the Royals won since the Rockies are not that great at all. Austin really got into the game. He was yelling and telling the guys to hit the ball, catch the ball, it was hilarious just watching him. Derek was happy that he got to order a snow cone and cotton candy. He tried to get a soda, but only the beer man kept coming around. We did leave at the bottom of the 7th inning after a great round of take me out to the ball game. The Royals were up 6-0 so we figured it was a good time to finish the rest of our drive to Omaha.

Saturday was the wedding and Kayley was gorgeous. Her dress was amazing, her bridesmaids were amazing and of course her husband was amazing. It was a great time and the boys even danced the night away. Of course they were pumped full of sugar too. We called it an early night, since we had to wake up in the wee early hours of morn to hit the road to return back in time for me to work.
On the way back, we did make one extended stop for dinner with my great friends from college. Joey and Kelley joined us along with their friend Dan. It was great. We enjoyed some stories and then catching up as well. Of course it had to end since we had to hit the road again. What a way to make memories.
So our whirlwind of a trip was worth every moment. We were able to see old friends and family and hope that we won't allow so much time to have elapsed before we see them again.
